Mayo scissors were originally developed for surgical use by Mayo Clinic surgeons. The scissors are used in surgical settings and ERs to cut away damaged tissue near the surface of a wound. Straight-bladed Mayo scissors are designed forwa cutting body tissues near the surface of a wound. Straight-bladed Mayo scissors are also used for cutting sutures and are interchangeably referred to as “suture scissors”. The Mayo scissors have a variety of uses in surgical settings, including veterinary clinics and podiatry offices.
