The wide pad makes for a much more comfortable seatbelt and helps security a little compared to just a regular strap with a buckle, but many of the wheelchair bound might be locked into their wheelchairs with this design due to the buckle being in the back.

Have you ever accidentally flung your 85-year-old mom to the ground from her wheelchair? I have. I was pushing her along the sidewalk and the wheelchair wheels got stuck on a piece of the sidewalk and the wheelchair came to a Dead Stop. Due to momentum, mom kept going and was thrown to the ground.

For obvious reasons, I realised I needed something like this (and also needed to push her more slowly). It’s very easy to use and mom finds it comfortable enough. I haven’t “tested” its effectiveness, per se, but hope we never need to.

I heard about this when my dad started needing a wheelchair because this keeps him secured and us the peace of mind that he’s not going to flip forward.

After an illness my grandfather lost the ability to walk and went into care. He didn’t need to be fully bed bound and could join the other residents for meals and activities in a wheelchair. However, the chair that insurance gave us didn’t have any kind on restraint system and for safety we needed something to help keep him stable.

This belt was both an affordable and useful solution. It was wide enough to help my grandpa stay upright in his chair ( since he couldn’t use his legs to adjust his seat) but wasn’t so cumbersome as to restrict movement or strap him fully to the chair. It was easy to take on and off as he was transferred from bed to chair and back.

This has proven to be a good solution for my spouse when he falls asleep in his wheelchair. He would tend to lean forward and we were afraid he might tumble out. This belt keeps him secure.
